Makgwe Primary is a Quintile 1 No-Fee school. There are no school fees, no application fees, and no fee waivers because there is no fee to waive. What follows is exactly what we ask of new families — and what we promise in return.

A — Grade 1 Intake

Grade 1 Admissions, 2027 Year of Learning

  • Spaces56 Grade 1 places across two classes (Bodibe and Dithwaneng)
  • CatchmentBodibe Village, Dithwaneng Section, Itsoseng farms (5km) — broader applications considered if space
  • EligibilityChildren turning 6 by 30 June 2027
  • DocumentsUnabridged birth certificate, immunisation card (Road-to-Health), parent/guardian ID, proof of residence, previous report (if applicable)
  • InterviewA 30-minute family conversation, plus an informal play-based observation in the Grade R classroom — never an academic test
  • OutcomeCommunicated by SMS and a printed letter from the SGB within 14 working days
B — Transfers

Mid-year & Cross-grade Transfers

  • Open gradesGrades 2 — 7, subject to class size (cap: 32)
  • ProcessPhone call to reception → enrolment form → meeting with class teacher → final sign-off by the principal
  • RequiredLatest report card, immunisation card, transfer letter from previous school
  • TimingTransfers welcomed at term break wherever possible — please plan for at least one working week of overlap
  • LanguageFoundation Phase Setswana LoLT; English from Grade 4. Bridging support available for English-second-language learners
C — School Fees

No Fees. Voluntary Contributions Only.

  • Voluntary SGB levyR 30 per family per term, used by the SGB for sports kit and outing transport. Optional. Many families contribute time instead, which we count equally.
  • StationeryA printed list is sent before each year. Most items are pooled. Families who can't are asked, quietly, to let the class teacher know.
